More Than Just Local Games

We have more than just the regularly scheduled house league and travel team games. In 2011 there will be a number of tournaments within the KTBA as well as SOBA and the OBA.

2008 Tourney Recaps

Mosquito Intact

Our Armstrong Petroleums Mosquitos, coached by Sergio Amanteo, Scott Harrison and Anthony Aman-tea, finished in first place after the round robin portion of the Intact tournament hosted by the KTBA in King City on July 11, 12 and 13. Unfortunately, they could not sustain their momentum and lost a heart breaking championship game 11-3 to the same Vaughan team which they defeated on the Sunday morning to clinch first place.

Through Friday night and Saturday, the team had been nearly perfect, going 2 wins (against Bolton and Richmond Hill) and 1 tie (vs Barrie).

While they did not win the tournament, the latter provided them with a valuable experience in terms of team morale and personal skill development. The players now have the confidence that they can beat anyone in the remainder of their House League A.

Bantam Intact

The Rhind Electric Bantam team, played 3 round robin games this weekend. Against Bolton they won 10-7, vs Newmarket they won 13-12 and vs Richmond Hill, 15-5. This set up the championship final against Newmarket. The Bantam players were outstanding, and the pitching of J. P. Saxe, Stephen Leonard, and Danton Brinovec gave thier team a chance but, unfortunately, the runs were hard to come by and the team went down in defeat 6-2. It was an exciting game between two evenly matched teams, and every player on the King Team should be proud of the effort they put forward as they represented the KTBA with class and great sportsmanship.

Sr. Rookie Select

Our Sr. Rookie Selects dropped all three of their games on this past weekend [July 18 and 19] but gained much-needed exper-ience as the players approach the playoffs in YSIBA. The tournament was captured by the Brampton Blue Jays in an exciting final vs their counterparts, the Red Sox.
